Surface Design Workshop at Aalborg University 03.march 2016

What is SURFON16 ?

Would you like to participate in a research workshop where you get to analyze and discuss how you or your company work with surface design, while you learn about the experiences of other professionals and get some tools to help you to systematically communicate about and develop the field?

Are you interested in design and development of products and would you like to know more about product surfaces and their impact on how we experience them, use them and how they add value to products?

Then we would like to see you at SURFON16!

SURFON16 is a kick-off research workshop arranged by the Industrial Design Section at Aalborg University in the attempt to create a forum for companies interested in research on surfaces and surface design.

SURFON16 is a one-day event with lectures, workshops and structured exercises where the SURFON-participants, Industrial Design students and researchers discuss materials- and surface-design while they challenge what surface design means for your product and others.

You must therefore - like the other participants - bring material samples that will be put into play and analyzed in a provocative and instructive manner.

The program is being organized so the full content is not clear at present, but we expect to have presentations by a variety of practising designers, researchers in consumer behavior, color design consultants and curious participants – like you!

Join the workshop !

SURFON16 will take place at Aalborg University’s Harbor Campus on March 3rd, 2016 from 09:00-15:30.

As the program for the workshop is a work in progress, you will find further details on this website over the next months. We expect the workshop to be of interest for anyone working in design and product development where materials and surface performance is important.

We, therefore, expect that SURFON16 will be of interest for industrial designers as well as sales and marketing management and professionals in the field of user experience. As some parts the course will focus on methods to communicate surface qualities, we recommend that you bring your colleague or your favorite business partner.

Due to spatial conditions, the workshop is limited to 30 paying participants and the spots will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

The SURFON participation fee is DKR 2.800, - / participant incl. consumption. The fee for 2 representatives from the same company is DKR 4.000,-

The general language at the conference will be in English and Danish as there will be Danish and non-Danish speaking participants at the workshop.
